Communication unites with technology in a revolutionized society.

In the last couple of years traditional media was dominant in the corporate industry and this meant that a lot of companies stuck to one-way communication. Traditional media limited external stakeholder's engagement with the corporate industries.

However social media…

Social media has opened a new world for corporate companies promoting two-way communication and increasing traffic to the organisation’s website. According to Forrester Research, 75% of the world’s population using the internet use social media and with the growing popularity of social media usage among the internet users, online presence for organizations has become crucial in reaching a larger audience. Social media makes the world a more accessible and connected place. It aids the public relations professional with more effective communication tools for example the different social media platforms.

The revolutionary communication has…

The 4th industrial revolution is the major industrial era since the launch of the first industrial revolution in the 18th century. It is the fusion of technologies that blur the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres, a  drastic digital change for the 21st century.
Web 2.0 has enabled user- generated content which democratizes content online, resulting in the growth of citizen journalists. This adds as both an advantage and disadvantage for the practice of corporate social media because it can either create a negative impact or positive impact on the organization. For example a bad review online can lead to a decrease in public interest.

Strategic use of social media is…

Hashtags are a much quicker way to gain attention online and to make your content trend while creating brand-awareness, promoting brand recognition and helping with customer relationship management. They make it easy for the practice of corporate social media as they are time efficient, and most importantly they are cost effective (#freeadvertising). They quickly create traffic to the organisation’s website and other online platforms and furthermore create a platform for public relations practitioners to engage with their public and create conversations. As much as the use of strategic social media has its benefits it also has its downfalls which include the risk of lack of security

Digital media is taking over, and it is important that corporate organizations align themselves with the ever-changing technologies. The 4th industrial revolution makes it even more important to keep up with the changes. And to also equip themselves with how to utilize these different technologies for effective communication.

    1. hey!anonymous yes technology does create a distance between humans and technology but the 4th industrial revolution wants to bridge that distance with artificial intelligence which can mean an even more separation between humans. As much as this technology can make our lives easier but it makes our relationships difficult.

  7. Technology does not enable businesses to reach their target market but it also work the opposite way, customers are able to reach their wanted goods and services but there is also a negative effect to this technology sale well that is it reduces sociability, people are always on their phones for an example and don't talk to each other

    1. hey!Edith I'm afraid that the 4th industrial revolution will even destroy human social skills further more than it is already doing but as for business that becomes their advantage because it's easier to reach an audience that is always on their phones because they will quickly have access to what ever you advertise, with the rapid increase of technology people hardly spend time watching TV or listening to radio.
